About Us

Our Mission & Values

The Virtual Rainbow Bridge Foundation was born out of the desire to bring awareness, dignity, and freedom rides to shelter animals (specifically to seniors, medically-alerted, and euthanasia-listed) who find it more difficult to find loving homes.
By providing a place to help families create a legacy in their pet's name to honor the unconditional love they showed us, we use those donations to:
  • Facilitate adoptions
  • Provide medical costs for Senior, medically alerted, and special needs animals in shelters and less fortunate spaces
The Virtual Rainbow Bridge Foundation...the home to celebrate the love our pets gave us.

Anita M. Besharat

Founder & President

Anita's extensive business background coupled with an unrelenting passion for helping those without a voice led her to create The Virtual Rainbow Bridge Foundation (aka "VRB"), a registered non-profit.

Pictured is Anne and William, both originally discovered in Los Angeles animal shelters.  Harry (remembered under The Rainbow Bridge), was Anita's second senior and special needs rescue dog she originally fostered during a July Fourth "Clear the Shelters" event.  Anita returned after the event to find he was one of the few left unadopted, but after a few signatures and happy tears, Harry got his Freedom Ride to his furever home with his new brother, William.

Seniors, and especially those with significant medical conditions and/or behavioral concerns, have higher euthanasia rates and are at the top of the list when shelters approach capacity. These are the beautiful souls Anita knows we can "roll up our sleeves" and save.

Anita's love of animals and loss of her first three senior rescue dogs paved the way for The Virtual Rainbow Bridge Foundation's mission--to be a place where pet owners can go to celebrate their fondest memories of their beloved pets, while simultaneously "paying their love forward" to help others find loving homes.

Anita is currently a proud Dog Mom of two very special adopted chihuahua mutts, Charlotte (first loved November 2021) and Philip (first loved February 2022).
